...A children's activity site, and companion to the popular "Brady the Grasshopper" book series.

As the header above says, welcome to BradyHop! A small flyer tucked into each copy of the book informs young readers that the story doesn't end at the back cover for Brady and his backyard insect friends. Bradyhop is chock-full of activities and coloring pages for them to print out with the supervision of their parents or teachers. The site also functions as a parent/teacher resource that suggests activities to promote healthy thought and educational fun. The books are available for order through a Paypal-fueled ordering page that allows the author to maintain her online business with only minimal access to a computer, and no assistance from us. We DO however add new material frequently to this site, and it remains one of our favorites to come back to.

The author supplies IND with art from the book's artist, as well as outlines, examples, and game ideas, ...and then pretty much leaves IND and our freelance artists to let our creativity run wild all over the place. The art styles used on the site vary greatly from one image to the next, giving the site a "fun, kid-friendly appeal". The navigation buttons are situated ALL around the page rather than just on the top, bottom, or sides. While unusual, this has not prevented the site from being viewable in nearly every browser, and on every screen we've tested it on to date. The site also contains one of a kind "Flash animation books" that allow the viewer to preview the books they are about to purchase. It's hard to describe in print the effect that a web-based book has on a viewer when they can turn the pages for themselves. Click HERE to see it for yourself. These interactive simulations give a much better sense of the books to the user than any static image possibly could. There is an emphasis on usability regardless of the viewer's understanding or experience with the web, and whenever possible links or instructions are provided to allow one to print directly from the browser OR save the files and use or print them however they choose.

Most of the pages contained on this site were built with children in mind, and even though it is largely graphically oriented, there is also a parent and teacher index that breaks down all of the activities by grade level (Pre-K through 2nd) for those of us that are more accustomed to "reading the directions".

Finally, there is an element of communication and an added incentive to learn in the form of a number of "project Pages" that can be completed, signed by an adult, and mailed to the author. She then sends out bonus sticker sheets that compliment the books.

At the end of the day this is a FUN website, both for it's intended audience, and those of us who work on it. It is a safe corner of the web that is HIGHLY recommended for parents, teachers, and anyone who has a child in their life. There are absolutely NO adds or external links on the site (with the exception of a link to us) but as with any website, it is best to supervise a child's browsing and enjoy the experience with them.
